This year's Snana Yatra is on Tuesday, May 9th 2017. Snana-yatra is an important pastime of Lord Jagannatha at our temple at ISKCON of Baltimore. On this day deities of Jagannatha, Baladeva, and Subhadra allow Themselves to be bathed by all following the original tradition of worship at Jagannatha Puri, India. All devotees as well as hundreds of local people enthusiastically assemble at the temple to perform abhisheka with Ganges water, milk, honey, etc. This bathing goes on for few hours in the midst of kirtanas glorifying Their Lordships and the chanting of the maha-mantra. Lord Jagannatha’s maha-prasada is also offered to all visitors.
All glories to Sri Sri Nitai Gaur Sundar, Sri Sri Jagannath, Baladev & Subhadra. By the mercy of His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada & Senior Vaishnavas, we are privileged to announce the Bhumi Puja & Anantsesha installation ceremony for the ISKCON of Baltimore’s new temple project on May 2nd 2015.
This auspicious occasion presents a great opportunity for all of us to come together, participate and pray to Lord Anantsesha to bless us.
This years Gaur Purnima is on 5th March 2015.
Gaura Purnima is a Gaudiya Vaishanva festival that celebrates the divine appearance of Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu in Navadwipa, India. Gaura Purnima means “Golden Full Moon”. The name signifies that Lord Caitanya took birth at time of full moon and He blesses everyone with the moonlike rays of His teachings.
Lord Caitanya is non-different than Lord Krishna appearing as His own devotees. He spread the congregation chanting of Holy Name and taught that one can gain enlightenment by chanting Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare / Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare.
Congregational chanting of the holy names of Krishna is the prescribed method of religion for this age of Kali. Therefore, more and more, devotees have been assembling in different locations to chant continuously together the Maha Mantra. The Baltimore 12 Hour Kirtan is one of these occasions. We would like to invite everyone to come and participate in chanting holy name of Lord.
